Top News Desk: Today 21 November (Monday) is being celebrated as Armed Forces Day. On this day, the day is celebrated with due dignity and enthusiasm. After Fajr prayers in the mosques of all cantonments, naval bases, and air force bases of the country, the program of the day began with special prayers wishing for the welfare, prosperity, and future progress of the armed forces.
On the occasion of the day, His Excellency the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Abdul Hamid and Defense Minister Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages.
Later this morning, the President and the Prime Minister paid tribute to the memory of the members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in the great freedom war of 1971 and laid wreaths at the Dhaka Cantonment Flame Extinguisher. Later, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Navy Admiral Mohammad Shaheen Iqbal, and Chief of Air Force Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan will lay wreaths on behalf of their respective forces.
Besides, the prime minister exchanged skills with the three army chiefs and the security advisor at his own office designated for the prime minister in the Armed Forces Department located in Dhaka Cantonment and spent some time. After that, the army chiefs will pay a courtesy call to the President at Bangabhaban.
On the occasion of ‘Armed Forces Day-2022’, Prime Minister and Defense Minister will felicitate the heirs of Vir Shrestha and the selected number of titled freedom fighters and their heirs at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment. Apart from this, 4 armies, 2 navy, and 2 air force members will be awarded peacetime posts for the year 2021-2022 by the Prime Minister.
Apart from Dhaka, on the occasion of the day, Barisal, Sylhet, Ghatail, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Bogra, Comilla, Jessore, Rangpur, and Khulna cantonment bases and related area headquarters will organize receptions.
