Top News Desk: Today 30 September (Friday) is National Girl Child Day. This year the theme of the day is ‘Pledge of Time, Rights of the Girl Child’. To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has taken the initiative to hold various programs on October 4.
On Thursday (September 29), the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry Alamgir Hossain said that the ministry has a program on the occasion of Girl Child Day on October 4. On this day, the day will be observed in various programs including rallies, and discussion meetings. So there is no program on September 30.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Women Affairs has requested all concerned to take up the program to celebrate Girl Child Day on September 30.
Note that many people get confused about National Girl Child Day and International Girl Child Day. Since 2012, the International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated on October 11 every year in the member states of the United Nations. Meanwhile, International Children’s Week is celebrated every year from September 29 to October 5. And National Girl Child Day is celebrated on the second day of this Children’s Week, i.e. September 30.
