BNP Protest Incident: Passenger Buses Ablaze in Matuail

Top News Desk: Today, in the vicinity of Matuail in the capital city, two passenger buses fell victim to arson attacks. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 29, prompting a prompt response from the fire service, with two units rushing to the scene to extinguish the flames.

At 12:35 pm, the fire service control room received distressing news of the bus’s fire. Lima Khanom, the duty officer at the control room, confirmed the unfortunate event, stating that they were alerted to a fire in a passenger bus belonging to Swadesh Paribahan Company in Matuail. The fire service dispatched their units immediately, but as of now, there is no information available regarding the perpetrators of the attack or any casualties resulting from the incident.

The alarming situation escalated further when another bus, whose name remains unknown at this time, was also set ablaze adjacent to the first bus. Fortunately, passengers on this bus had already disembarked, ensuring their safety.

Prior to this incident, around 11:30 am, a clash between BNP workers and the police erupted in Matuail, causing both sides to chase each other. This clash led to the closure of traffic on one side of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, adding to the tense atmosphere in the area.
