Top News Desk: In a remarkable demographic shift, nearly half of Bangladesh’s population comprises young individuals who hold the potential to shape a prosperous nation. As active contributors to the development of Bangladesh, the youth cohort plays a pivotal role. Beyond borders, young people globally have emerged as a potent force instigating transformation on critical fronts including climate change mitigation, safeguarding human rights, and managing pandemics.

Today, the 12th of August, marked as International Youth Day, holds immense significance. This year’s theme, ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,’ underscores the imperative of equipping young individuals with the necessary tools to contribute to a planet-friendly future.

The inaugural commemoration of this day transpired on August 12, 2000. The fundamental aim of International Youth Day is to foster dialogues that amplify youth participation and perspectives across a spectrum encompassing economic, social, and political realms. It is a global platform empowering youth to vocalize their entitlements to quality education, well-being, and dignified livelihoods.

Under the auspices of the United Nations, this distinctive occasion serves as a catalyst to sensitize young minds about their rights. True to tradition, Bangladesh joins hands with the world in celebrating this day, reinforcing the collective commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable progress.
