Top News Report: Moulvibazar Witnesses CTTC’s ‘Operation Hillside’, 13 Individuals Apprehended, Inclusive of Minors
In a decisive move, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has taken into custody a total of 13 individuals, among them three children, following a meticulously orchestrated raid on a residence in Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar. The operation, aptly dubbed ‘Operation Hillside,’ was aimed at dismantling a suspected terrorist hideout.
Within the apprehended group, there exist four adult males and six adult females, reflecting the diverse demographics encompassed by this operation. Kulaura Police Station’s Officer-in-charge, Abduch Chalek, corroborated this development and revealed that the CTTC’s strategic initiative commenced at 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 12.
At 11:00 AM, after a four-hour operation marked by its meticulous nature, the head of the counter-terrorism unit, Asaduzzaman, joined forces with the district police and Kulaura upazila police to provide an enlightening briefing. Importantly, the operation concluded without any reported casualties.
The sweep of the premises yielded significant findings, including a substantial cache of Jihadist literature, a sum of Tk 3,61,000 in cash, approximately 3 kilograms of explosive materials, and materials associated with Jihadist training. The detained individuals are reportedly linked to a nascent militant organization identified as “Imam Mahmud’s Caravan.”
